Humperdinckin 1958, released his first single under the Decca Records label - the song" I'll Never Fall in Love Again".
A significant leap in his career came after a connection with Tom Jones manager, Gordon Mills, who recommended he adopt an artistic name.
He had his first success in Belgium in 1966 when he represented the UK in a competition in Knock and his hit "Dommage, Dommage" then topped theBelgian charts.

In early 1967, he recorded his first hit "Release Me", which reached number one in the UK charts, ahead of the Beatles' "Strawberry FieldsForever/Penny Lane ".
Two more successful ballads followed, "There Goes My Everything" and"The Last Waltz", and then more amazing albums.
